Wow. . reality came sweeping in unexpectedly. Are we really that close to the school year beginning? Could my five year old really be nearly ready to enter the world of kindergarten already? What will that first day be like? Do I have all the paperwork I need?
As I slowly came to terms with the fact that indeed the time had come we turbo-sped through dental screenings . . vision screenings. . . and school supply preparation. Brooklyn has informed us that she's not ready for school yet because she hasn't gone "back to school clothes shopping". I'm not sure whether to blame this one on her friends at school or on some commercial. .but apparently Brooklyn isn't going to let me get away with my normal internet clothes shopping for her this year. Sounds like we have a "mommy and me" shopping date arranged sometime before next Wednesday.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not one of those moms that will cry as Brooklyn walks into her first day of school or onto her first school bus ride. I will be the mom smiling pridefully knowing that my kid is ready to rock this world. I'm not afraid to say that my kid is extremely bright and loves learning. She knows how to read better than most kids I know her age. She will kick bootie and take names and I cannot WAIT to see what the future has in store for my chicky monkey.
I can't wait to keep blogging every moment of her journey. Knowing Brooklyn I'm sure there will be plenty of laughs along the road of education. She's got a big year ahead. . . first year of public school. . .becoming a big sister. . . I can't wait to kickstart the journey on Thursday. "Back to School Night" here we come!
To celebrate one of the last days of summer we met up with some friends (both of which you've seen before on the blog from Europe) at a new yogurt place called Sweet CeCe's. It's a franchise owned by some friends of our friends.
This picture was taken before our friends Ryan and Angie and their girls had their frozen yogurt:
This is Brooklyn's wonderful contraption - it just screams BROOKLYN to me :
