Pink or Blue We Can't Wait to Meet You :)

I think most of my blog followers also follow my Facebook, so this is probably redundant information.  However, I wanted to take a minute to share the results of our ultrasound on Friday.

As most of you know my 20 week ultrasound was scheduled for 21 weeks.  It's just my luck. .that's how things work around here.  So, we were VERY anxious by the time the ultrasound rolled around.  Although we found ourselves laughing to ourselves because EVERYBODY knows that our family doesn't make boys.  My maternal grandmother was one of four girls and one boy. . . she had three girls. . . and had three granddaughters. .and when she died a year and a half ago she had one great-granddaughter.  Girls are just "the thing" in our family.  I also had taken a look at date of conception vs ovulation (sorry - too graphic I'm sure). . . and the Chinese Gender chart. . and all pointed to girl.

As I drove to meet Matt and Brooklyn at my OB's office I got a text from Matt that said "I'm nervous for some reason".  I said "Me too. . . probably because this is so final. . this is probably defining our family".  He agreed.  Then a big later I texted "I definitely think girl".  He said "Me too". .and I said "Aww. .daddy's girls".  Matt has long wanted a boy, but recently told me that since having Brooklyn he'd really be okay with either.

My OB's office got us in remarkably quickly and we all gathered in the ultrasound room.  Brooklyn proudly exclaimed that she wanted a sister and Dr. L said "I'll see what I can do sweetie".  This ultrasound didn't seem as clear as the one we'd had with Brooklyn. . but he gradually counted kidneys, chambers of the heart, etc.  Everything looked great.  He had to deal with the occasional "Yeah, but I can't tell if it's a brother or a sister yet" from Brooklyn. . . but most of it was going fairly smoothly.  The baby was in a very awkward position with it's face nearly smack into my placenta so he was having trouble getting a shot of the face.

At one point Dr. L* did a blood tracking which showed blood flow through the heart.  It was bright red and orange, etc. and Brooklyn said "It's a DRAGON!!!"  So apparently she's having a baby dragon :)

So, he moved down to the important part and whispered "Well. . there it is".  He laughed and said that he didn't want to proclaim the real anatomically correct word because he didn't want Brooklyn to go to school gabbing about those parts.  I said "Uh. . Really?"  He smiled and nodded. . and poked around for a bit longer to try to confirm.  At one point he said "oh yeah, there. . definitely".  Later when I pinned him in the corner on percent certainty he told me that he was 80 / 20 . . which I think was more for liability than anything else, but we are planning a second ultrasound at an ultrasound studio on Friday to be more sure that he's right.

A boy. . ohhhhh my goodness. . . Matt is over the moon and I am apprehensively excited.  I think it's the PERFECT family. . but I also KNOW girly and pink and bows and tutus.  I don't KNOW boys in the same way.  So, here's hoping that I'm not a flub of a boy mommy :)

So. . we have it narrowed down to three names. . and have the nursery roughly picked out.  But, no action will be taken on either front until confirmation next Tuesday that our little boy is truly a little boy.

Wow. .can you believe it. . It's a BOY!!!

So I remember having this same conversation approx 10 mo ago. And if there is one thing I can say from that is that a smart woman reminded me that I was a great momma no matter what. She is a BRILLIANT lady and I would NEVER question her. I love you and sweet baby boy!
