Anyway, moving right along. . . Brooklyn has been a bit obsessed with reading signs / food boxes / anything she can get her little eyes upon lately. It has been so fun to see her world enriched by actually being able to read things around her.
Earlier this week we were at Walmart making our way through the aisles of crazed pre-Halloween shoppers. We stopped at the DVD aisle and I said "Darn, nothing new for kids". She calmly looked through the DVDs and suddenly said "EAT ME". Uhmmm. . .excuse me . . .what did my pretty little girl just say? I said "Where in the world did you hear that?" and she pointed a finger ahead of her. . .
Well THANK GOODNESS. I was seriously starting to question what she was learning on the bus or at recess.
Some other humerous interactions surrounding her reading. . .
"Mom, why is that store called All About Eyes? Do you go there to learn everything you ever wanted to know about eyes?"
"Oh, and mom. .that store next to it. . . Vi-ta-Min World. . . is that where everyone in the world gets their vitamins?"
"Last Chance. . huh?. . why does that little house have a sign that says Last Chance?" (It's a bar. . but I just don't have the heart to tell her that)
"PetSmart. . .ohhhhh mommmy mommmyyy . . it says Adoptions Today. . .lets go lets go" (wow - thanks a lot PetSmart - I definitely WANTED to spend my Saturday petting every single dog in the place and trying to convince my daughter that just because Zoey died does not mean we need another pet in our house :)
There are a lot of other funnies, but I'll have to be better about posting them as they happen. I have to be careful about what I type on my computer screen while she's sitting next to me. . . etc. Life is getting much more interesting around our house :)
