I can hardly believe my baby boy is one month old. Time goes so fast, except of course in the middle of the night when time seems to absolutely crawl. :)
What / How Is Easton Eating?
This month has been a journey in the eating department. We made a mistake and switched formula mid-month which caused a lot of crankiness and discomfort for Easton. But, now we're back on our original formula (Similac) and he seems to be doing well. He is currently eating 3 - 4 ounces every 3 hours during the day, and sometimes going a bit longer between feedings in the evening.
What Does Easton's Schedule Look Like?
Typically Easton starts his day between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Normally he wakes up and eats and then spends 2 hours or more playing / looking around / chillaxing with me while I take a shower, wash bottles, etc. Sometime between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM (usually after his morning bottle) he typically falls asleep for his marathon nap, which normally lasts 2 - 3 hours. I use this time to run errands, clean the house, blog, do whatever is easier to do with him asleep.
After his morning nap he typically spends another couple of hours awake (after drinking his bottle) sometimes with some scattered short naps. This occurs until about 4PM when we go pick up Brooklyn and he typically takes a late afternoon nap until dinner.
We start our nighttime routine at about 7:10 when we get the kiddos in the bath, Matt reads some books to Brooklyn, and I feed Easton before laying him down to bed. We do a dream feed with Easton at 10:00 PM, and then hope and pray that we get some good 4 hour blocks of sleep. Right now nighttime sleep is our biggest stressor as we've not seen much improvement in his sleeping . . but we're hoping that we see some improvement as the next month moves forward.
What Does Easton Love?
While he's still a bit young to have a lot of favorites, he definitely enjoys:
* Cuddle time with mommy or daddy
* Bathtime with Brooklyn
* His Swing
* The infamous singing monkey
What Has Easton Learned This Month?
* Learning to self-soothe - he gets a little better at this every day
* Tracking noises with his eyes - he loves to follow daddy's voice as he walks around the room
* Baby Coos - he's starting to make cooing noises when he's happy
What Do I Want To Remember About This Month?
I want to remember the good times and forget the sleepless nights. I also want to remember how great Brooklyn has been about accepting her new brother. I never want to forget the baby cuddles that I'll never be able to get back . . or the sweet inquisitive looks that Easton gives as if he's trying to memorize every single feature of my face.
Silbing Encounters
While I love watching every moment between Brooklyn and Easton my favorite moments have been :
* Watching Brooklyn introduce her friends and teachers to her baby brother. She beams with pride as she says "This is Easton!"
* The funniest sibling moment happened two nights ago in the tub. She had just said "I really hope that Easton doesn't go poo in the bath water." Just a few seconds later a shooting stream of urine came soaring through the air and straight into her end of the bathtub. You would have thought a shark had entered the bathtub. . . she jumped out of the tub like she was about to be attacked and refused to reenter the questionable waters. Such a silly girl she is. Last night Brooklyn was clearly on edge and prepared for an exit plan as they took their bath.
