Beach Baby in Florida

Wow - blogging twice in one day - who knew? :) Maybe I'll really get back into the swing of this thing.

Let's pick up where we left off. . .

Monday morning we all woke up excited to enjoy some Floridian sun at the beach. Eric made the girls some breakfast (Kat doesn't lie - he's one great daddy / hubby) and we prepped for an uber fun day in the sun. Our first step was to stop by Kat and Eric's friend's house to pick up their beach tent to ensure that the kiddos had proper coverage when needed at hte beach. We then headed straight away to the beach after catching a quick glimpse at Eric and Kat's old house.

We merrily made our way to the beach. . singing songs, excited about the day. . . Matt and I were following Eric and Kat. Suddenly, in what seemed like the blink of an eye, a car and a van collided in the intersection directly in front of us head on. I was certain that someone in the smaller car was going to be dead. .the car had lifted off the ground to the point where Kat and Eric were afraid it was going to hit the car we were driving. We both immediately pulled over. . Eric pulled out his cell phone to call 911 while Matt tried to remotely assess if anyone was hurt to decide whether to step in. Matt has medical training (though limited) from his past Social Services Director role. As Matt was crossing the street to provide aid a police officer pulled up on his motorcycle so he was able to let him take control.

During the duration of the event Kat and I had hopped out of the car (after moving them safely to the median) to see if we could help in anyway. Only later did we giggle about the fact that we'd been in the middle of a major public street in our matching (though different colors) swimsuit cover ups. Finally after more emergency vehicles arrived we were allowed to leave. . . though I think both Kat and I were shaking for an hour following. . and Brooklyn kept saying "Is somebody going to fix those cars?" . . . "Did you see that car crash?". . . "I hope everyone is okay". . .almost endlessly. God love her sweet heart!

Upon arrival at the beach we got our beach babies lathered up with sun screen and made our way to the sand. It was a perfect day for the sun and Brooklyn was loving life. Sand castles, wave jumping, wading in the water. . .Brooklyn was having a marvelous time. Kat had made the girls matching cover ups with their initial embroidered on them (LOVE) and I had gotten them some matchy swimsuits. They looked adorable. I know Kat and I were both feeling like two very blessed mamas (aside from the sporadic moments of defiance from Brooklyn).

Kathleen and Eric's friends joined us at the beach and the moms sat in the sun, reminicing jealously of our 20-something bodies while watching some cute 20 year olds in bikinis bouncing around. We giggled as we thought about how we only wish we'd known then what we know now. . .and about how fast those cutie patootie bodies fade. I know none of us would ever part with the lives we have in a million years, but those rock star bodies sure look fun!

Look for Eric on next season's Dancing with the Stars (LOL - Kidding)

So cute!

After spending several hours at the beach we brushed off as much sand as possible and headed home. After getting us all cleaned up we headed over to a little Mexican restaurant for some yummy food. Kat and I bounced over to Walmart after dinner to pick up some snack items to take to Disney for the following days. Walmart is always such an enriching life experience. . . after a few amusing interactions with Walmart patrons and employees we headed home to indulge in my new secret . . Blue Bunny Red Carpet Red Velvet Ice Cream. . .A. . MAZ. . .ING. I hesitate to even write about it on my blog because I'm afraid that it will start to sell out in stores and I'll suffer withdrawals. Seriously. . AMAZGING! Go get some. . . if you love Red Velvet Cake you'll LOVE this ice cream.

What better way to end a day than with a bowl full of ice cream. . . yummy bliss in a pink of Red Velvet Ice Cream! Thank you, Blue Bunny :)

I need to be at that beach. Cute pictures of the girls! And you and Kat look great, as usual. :)
